Hop. Stop. Hop again. A car blasts past a hair from your feathers and you inch forward into the next lane of chaos. Crossy Road takes about three seconds to learn and delivers the kind of heart-pounding near misses that make you whisper “one more run” to yourself at 1 a.m.
About Crossy Road
You’re a chicken (or whatever character you unlock) crossing an endless stretch of obstacles: multi-lane highways, rushing rivers on floating logs, and train tracks where the express arrives with zero warning. Every forward hop earns points, and the camera pushes you along, so standing still is a slow way to die.
The genius is how readable it is. Cars are loud and obvious, logs drift predictably, and trains announce themselves — every death feels like your fault, which is exactly what pulls you back. Unlocks sprinkle in new characters and cosmetic variety, but the core loop never changes: hop smart, hop soon, keep going.
How to Play
Tap, click, or press the up arrow / W to hop forward. Left, right, and down let you sidestep and retreat one tile. The camera creeps forward if you linger, so you can’t camp.
Time your hops between cars, ride floating logs across water (and never sit still on one too long), and watch for trains before crossing rails — they’re fast and they don’t brake. Reaching each new row scores a point; the run ends the moment anything hits you or you drown.
Tips
- Sideways hops cost nothing. Slide into a safe pocket first, then move up when a gap opens.
- On rivers, hop between logs deliberately rather than spamming forward — floating into open water is a free ticket back to the start.
- Listen as much as you watch; train warnings are easier to hear than to spot mid-hop.
